Master Class with Mr. George Stewart II
Healthyblackmen.org is excited about our new feature on EDUCATION! Everything important in educational news, information, trends, and resources! And helping us is our newest Contributor George Stewart, an educator on the front lines in the classroom.
Mr. George Stewart II is a full-time certified teacher in Texas and brings his expertise from the classroom to our virtual newsroom. Mr. Stewart began his career in education as a teacher’s aide and worked his way up to becoming a certified teacher. He currently teaches social studies. He says becoming a D.A.T.E. Grant recipient is his biggest teaching accomplishment to date. Recently George has been named a finalist for the Black Man Can Award because of his tireless efforts in the classroom.
His community service journey started in college where he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Through his fraternity and community service work, he’s touched the lives of many people and it was a natural progression to move to Houston, TX to start a fulfilling career in education. When George is not in the classroom, he’s heavily involved in the PTA because he’s also the president. Under George’s leadership, the PTA has increased membership and even garnered them the Spring Membership Increase Award.
In addition to teaching and community service projects, George likes to write. Lucky for us at healthyblackmen.org for sure as he hopes to motivate people to get involved in their own communities and shed light on the education system. His work has been featured all over the web in Living Education eMagazine, theblackmancan.org, and other national publications.
