Healthy Man of the Month – April 2015
Steven R. Plater is not just an emerging music artist based in New York City, he’s our April “Healthy Man of the Month.”
Steven believes in taking care of his health to the point he exercises everyday. And he credits a popular fitness programs for his fit frame today. He’s also concerned about Black men and heart disease – “It’s the biggest health threat to brothers today.”
“I’m sure we all know at least one Black man who has died of this cause. Once we start improving our diet and exercising on a daily basis, then we’ll see a decrease in high blood pressure and heart failure within this demographic.”
A man on a clear mission to achieve his dreams. Steven got his fitness bug while entertaining.
“While performing on a cruise ship, I started to see a physical transformation using programs like P90X and Insanity. The results were incredible and I loved it so much I decided to pursue a second profession in Fitness.”
He became a certified personal trainer through ACE (American Council on Exercise) and began to compete in Men’s Physique competitions. His first competition was Fitness Star International in Toronto, Canada where he placed 2nd. In his next competition, Body Boyz United (BBU) in Los Angeles, California, Steven walked away with the title becoming the Face of BBU 2012. Steven did not stop there and entered his first National Physique Committee (NPC) Men’s Physique Competition in New York City in 2013.
And while he works with clients on their fitness goals, he continues to pursue his musical passion. His debut album, “Still Standing – EP by The Crowned One” was released last year and recently he released the single, “Sick ‘n Tired” and has a video also in the works.
There you have it, Steven Plater is Healthy Man of the Month for Healthy Black Men for April 2015. Congratulations Steven.
