Healthy Man of the Month – July 2015

By on July 1, 2015

Healthy Man of the Month for 2015 is Mr. Ibrahim Daramy, born in Sierra Leone; He came to the United States in 2001, playing soccer, and left during the civil upheaval. The journey from Africa to America is personal.

“My passion is to go back home and open gym, to help people be more healthy. In my country we don’t have pools, we have oceans. I’d like to have a center for everyone to come, like a YMCA.”

As a popular California fitness instructor at Cali Physique who helps hundreds of people every year get the beach body they want, Ibrahim says when he was 17 years old, he had high blood pressure because of living in refugee camps.
“I found that going to gym, relived a lot of stress for me, and I loved it because it helped me. I lost my dad from a heart attack, my uncles because of diabetes.”
The man with less than 7% body fat says he fell in love with fitness because he learned the value of it.
“When I talk, I have a stutter, but in high school, I stuttered quite a lot. And because of my dedication to exercise and fitness, I gained confidence, and now my stuttering is very limited, it’s under control.”
It was 2003/04 that began to take fitness seriously, getting certified. And he says that in order to tell if a personal trainer is good for you, come in for an assessment and see if the fit is right for you. Don’t go by their website, their looks, but you should ask around. Do some homework but most of all – it’s what fits for you.
