Get Fit With Health Coach Brandon Howard
Healthy Black Men welcomes Mr. Brandon Howard, an ACE Certified Health Coach, and Personal Trainer for Baptist Health Milestone Wellness Center to our stellar team of expert Contributors.
Howard caught the ‘fitness’ bug during college.
“Around that time I befriended a young lady on the gymnastics team and she became my trainer.”
The Kentucky resident recalls being rail thin at 180 pounds, zero muscle tone and hating to work out. His friend made working out fun and at the same time taught the basic principles for eating.
“During my freshman year instead of gaining the freshman fat 15 pounds I put on 15 pounds of muscle. I started getting up at 6:00 a.m. for workouts and soon had a few friends that joined me. One day it was like a light bulb went off in my head. If I can start to love working out and eating right, why can’t I do that for everyone?”
Mr. Howard is also owner of HowardPower Fitness LLC in Louisville, Kentucky, getting a degree in Fitness and Wellness from Oakwood University in 2007. Brandon specializes in weight loss, fitness, and behavioral change.
Starting his own business, HowardPower Fitness, Mr. Howard says, “I wanted to start this business to serve as a vehicle to help improve the health of the African-Americans in my city and across the country through workshops, group training, nutrition coaching, behavior modification, etc. Often times our people do not do simply because they do not know. I want to change that and improve the quality of lives all over.”
